South African batter Aiden Markram was awarded the ICC Player Of The Month for June 2025. Markram scored a brilliant century that helped South Africa beat Australia to be crowned World Test Champions for 2025.
South Africa won the historic final at Lord's and won their first major ICC title since winning the 1998 Champions Trophy. Markram played a crucial role in his team's victory at Lord's as he backed his duck in the first innings with a century in the second innings.
Aiden Markram scored 136 runs off 208 deliveries as South Africa chased down 282 runs required to win on day 4 of the final. Markram backed up the good work done by the bowlers and especially Kagiso Rabada who picked five wickets in the first innings and four in the second.

Privilege to Receive This Award- Aiden Markram
Reacting to his nomination, Aiden Markram thanked the ICC, expressing his emotions after being crowned as the WTC champions.
"It is a privilege to receive this award. To contribute to a ICC World Test Championship win for our team and South Africa is something that means a lot to me," Markram said upon winning the award.
"Winning the final at Lord's is a historic moment for South African cricket, and it is something we will all remember forever. This victory was only possible due to the combined efforts of the entire team, with crucial contributions from KG (Kagiso Rabada) and Tembs (Temba Bavuma)," he further added.
Meanwhile, West Indies women's skipper Hayley Matthews won the Women's Player Of The Month award for his contribution with the bat in the T20I series against South Africa. She scored 147 runs at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 120.49.

Senior Players Rested For Zimbabwe Test, T20I Tri-Series
South Africa recently played a Test series against Zimbabwe, with Wiaan Mulder becoming the top-scorer for them in Tests. The senior players, including Markram, were rested for the Test series. They are also rested for the Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series 2025 that is to follow.
