India’s pro all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been one of the most consistent performers for India with both bat and ball. She has over 300 wickets in international cricket, making her one of the most prolific bowlers in women’s cricket.
Deepti Sharma Reveals MS Dhoni’s Influence on Her
Deepti’s consistency on the field is always complemented by her calm and composed nature. As India’s breakthrough factor in recent years, she shared how former Indian captain MS Dhoni influenced her in handling pressure and staying composed.
"I have learnt to handle pressure from MS Dhoni, sir. I used to be glued to the TV whenever there was a match featuring him and watch them," Deepti told BCCI TV on Friday.
"It never seemed like he (Dhoni) was under pressure at any moment; he would calmly handle the situation and finish the game at last. That is exactly what I have also developed in my game," she said, as quoted by NDTV Sports.

Deepti Sharma on Her Bowling Approach and Love for Challenges
Furthermore, Deepti shared the secret behind her success and how she manages to consistently deliver when her team needs her.
"I keep things simple. For example, in every match when I get the chance to bowl—be it in the powerplay or slog overs I handle that task very calmly."
Deepti also admitted she enjoys being challenged and reflected on her recent milestone of reaching 300 international wickets.
"I love challenges, and whenever a tough situation arises, the team management feels that we have Deepti in our ranks and she can get the job done."

Deepthi’s wicket of Alice Capsey in the 4th T20 International against England brought up her 300th international wicket across formats.
"Feeling great, and it's a very proud moment for me as well as my family. The team has also praised me a lot for this achievement."
Deepti Nears Goswami’s Record, Dedicates Milestone to Family and Mentor
Notably, Deepti is just 55 wickets away from surpassing Jhulan Goswami’s record for the highest wicket tally in Indian women’s cricket. She spoke highly of her inspiration and former teammate.
"The first Indian woman to 300 wickets is a legend who has taught me a lot. When I made my debut, she encouraged me, cheered me a lot on the field as well as off it. Joining her in the 300 club is a moment of great satisfaction for me."
"I dedicate this milestone to my family because they made a lot of sacrifices from the time I started playing to this day," she concluded.
